Abernathy Insurance was founded in 1973 by David Abernathy. With his experience at Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York and Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance, David launched his own agency to address the rising demand for casualty related products and services from his growing number of clients. David’s determination to succeed, willingness to work hard, and emphasis on quality customer service became the core building blocks of the Agency.

In 1978, David and his wife Nancy incorporated the family business to support future growth. In the early 1990’s, David and Nancy’s twin sons, Mark and Brian, officially joined the Agency to carry forth the proud family legacy.

Thirty-six years since its inception Abernathy Insurance Agency consistently ranks as one of the largest producers among the 700 agencies representing Mercury Insurance Group. Additionally, the Agency also represents other reputable firms such as Fireman’s Fund, Safeco, Chubb, Golden Eagle, First American Specialty, Progressive, Clarendon National, Travelers, Civil Service Employee Insurance, and Explorer.
